Businesses can improve their system performance and safety by dedicating a second network for security.

A surveillance system helps businesses enhance safety, deter crime, and optimize operations. However, security devices are high bandwidth applications. So the more security devices connected to a network, the more bandwidth businesses need. Too much bandwidth can overload a network, causing systems to slow down or stop altogether. Businesses can prevent a performance compromise by moving their surveillance system to its own network.

Dedicating a second network for surveillance not only prevents system slowdowns but also improves security, and here’s how. Let’s say an attacker breaches a security network. If a business has security on its own dedicated network, primary network applications should be unimpacted.

The reverse is also true. A primary network breach shouldn’t impact a secondary one. Businesses can also layer as many dedicated networks as they need and decide which applications they want on each network. By dedicating a second network to security, businesses can ensure their primary applications run smoothly even during peak traffic hours and mitigate the impact of a cyber-attack.
